Great point Master Scott. Ironically, I gave a very similar lecture to my Hapkido students this morning. I study a variety of arts but I prefer Hapkido because it combines the kicks of Taekwondo with the joint locks of Jujitsu. Keep up the great service to the martial arts community.

I agree with you 100%. I started doing TKD at the age of about 37 and I love it, but believe that it mat not be for everyone. So each person has to find what they like and then give it their all. I found a school that I believe is the best one around. I do TKD because I love it. One more thing thank you for this site.

If I could ask what is the method do you use to make your kicks faster? I would love to make my kicks faster. I believe you can learn from anyone.

    Hapkido

I have studied martial arts my entire life. I have did Taekeondo for 23yrs. Hapkido and judo, jusitsu for 10. A great thing about studying in the home country’s art is the realness. I studied with KyungHee University and kukkiwon for a bit and received my 6th dan. However studying and teaching hkd has been the most rewarding.

    take your favorite art
TKD, taekkyun, karate Judo, Aikido, jujitsu, Kung fu, Weapons training from all arts.
    and you have HAPKIDO!

    the best
kicks from TKD, TKY, KRT, kung fu.

    the best
    throws from judo, jujitsu.

    the best
locking techniques from judo, akd, jj, kung fu.

what art do police officers have to study for a certain amount of ours outside of the police academy?
police reserve units have hapkido seminars a few times a yr.

Im enjoying your site. Im going to explore it some more.

Very good video and I have given the same advice to others. What I like about JKD is that it has the same philosophy concerning finding whats right for you. As Bruce Lee said “its about honestly expressing yourself”.
