Power Created With The Back Kick

In this video you can see the power generated with the back kick. This kick is also known as the turning kick, the turning back side kick, the rear horse kick, and many others. Regardless of what you call it, the end result when used correctly is the same, a powerful kick. This kick is usually best delivered to the body; however, if your really fast it makes for a quick knockout when delivered to the chin. I don’t recommend you throw this quick to the face during class, the chances of injuring your classmate would be high! Good luck and train hard!

This is THE perfect counter for a rear led roundhouse kick thrown by an opponent. I actually prefer using the jump back kick. If timed correctly your opponent will be on his back before their roundhouse even hits your hogu.

This is why I learned NOT to use rear leg roundhouses as first strike attacks against a more experienced or faster opponents.

It also works well when they are trying to rotate away from your power side. They get to walk right into the power.
